Crossroads Foundation Student Scholarship Application

The purpose of this scholarship is to assist  eligible candidates with the continuation of formal education. Formal  education applies to any institution with an undergraduate,  post-graduate or occupational curriculum. Leisure learning courses will  not be considered. Consideration will be given to graduating high school  seniors accepted into a qualified higher learning institution, current  undergraduates, graduate students and students enrolled in occupational  schools.  
 

Requirements

•  Complete submission of scholarship application, essay and two recommendation letters via Crossroads Foundation webpage.
• Graduating high school seniors must have an overall GPA (grade point average) of at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• College undergraduate students must have an overall GPA of at least 2.5.
• Graduate students must have an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 overall and at least a 2.5 in all graduate work.
• Occupational school students must have a scholastic standing in the top half of the class or what equates to a GPA of 2.5.

The essay is an essential part of the  scholarship application. It assists us in becoming acquainted with the recipient in ways other than courses, grades and test scores. The essay  must be 300 typed words, double-spaced with one inch left and  right margins.

Please select one of the following essay topics:

• Discuss an issue of personal, local, national or international concern and its importance to you.
• Select a person of significant influence to you and describe that influence.
• Share a significant experience, achievement, or risk you have taken or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.
• Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure or creative  work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you,  and explain that influence.

 Administration 

Scholarship application is available to  interested parties. The foundation will appoint a five-person committee  and one committee head, to accept and review applications. The  foundation secretary will maintain a copy of all application for  administrative purposes.

Scholarship  committee will review applications and present final recommendations to  the foundation board of directors at monthly board meeting for their  final approval. The Board may request completed applications for their  review.

Scholarship  recipients will be notified and names will be posted on foundation  website. Scholarship recipients will be acknowledged at the annual  Scholarship Foundation car show in July. The recipients’ attendance at  the car show is strongly encouraged.

Scholarship  recipients will be contacted by a foundation chairperson or Secretary  to verify the university/college the recipient will attend in the fall.  After receiving verification with a student ID number, a check will be  mailed directly to the recipient’s school of choice in the amount  awarded by the foundation scholarship committee the second week of  September.
